The double-spiral staircase and golden kebaya.The lobby oozed a cool, new kind of Malaysian chic – traditional Malaysian elements blended with modern minimalist design. I especially loved the copper ceiling and the century-tile flooring. The symmetry of the space was unmistakable, with the reception at one end, a copy of the bar at the other end, and the double-spiral staircase in the centre of the lobby. We returned to the hotel in the late-afternoon for a cup of tea before checking out. Our one-night stay was short but we managed to get a very good impression of The Ruma Hotel.

This floor houses an infinity pool and deck, a bar/lounge, a gym and the Ur Spa. It’s a beautiful, airy space and I especially loved the cocoon-like furniture. The gym is well-equipped but the pool is quite small. The desk and city view.The bathroom was absolutely gorgeous, featuring beautiful stand-alone copper sinks and a separate bath/shower corner with a city view.
I always love the idea of twin basin because it saves you time from not having to wait for the other person to finish using it. That, perhaps, sums up the pleasure — no, the privilege — of being able to retreat to a hotel to clock in some solid work. At RM248 upwards for four hours, it is too high a price for most people to pay; literally RM1 per minute, if you take four minutes each way to travel between reception and your room. You would honestly enjoy greater value in staying the night. But if you are not part of the hoi polloi and a triple-digit figure is chump change to you, working from a suite at The RuMa would serve you well. Lighting is ample and adjustable via the bedside dimmers, with reading lights conveniently placed for going over fine print.

Because it is a corner room, we enjoy the privilege of having a really large window along the length of the room. Our Corner Studio with City View comes with a kind bed, a living area , two vanity basin, and a bathtub with separate rainforest shower.

The connection is unwavering from any corner and allows for unlimited device links while well-placed plug points all around the room enable you to move around freely with a laptop. HDMI connectivity and mirroring of both iOS and Android devices onto the TV allow for large-screen displays of downloads or video conferencing (or Netflix — guilty). We had the choice of sitting at the bar/lounge or in the Librari . The bartender was an expert cocktail maker and entertained us with stories and information about the hotel and the KLCC district.
Before driving your car out of carpark, go to receptionist and get your physical parking ticket validated. Then, at the carpark, validate your ticket again at the machine near the carpark exit. If there’s any problem of exiting, simply press the intercom to speak with operator. For us, we drove to the hotel with our family’s car. The traffic around KLCC can be pretty insane during peak period, so try not lose your cool. When I first heard the word “RuMa” I immediately thought of home, because in Malay & Indonesian language, rumah means home.
As I turned around, I was so shocked to see more than 15 jars of seeds and nuts! From chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, cashew nuts to pistachio nuts, I felt so spoilt for choice. If you love seeds and nuts, you’ll understand my excitement. Next to the bread section, there are 14 jars of jam/honey!
